nitwit, a newsletter by charlotte polk

Nitwit is my attempt at 1) writing more and 2) being more vulnerable. I do a decent amount of writing, and I’d like for it to not feel so terrifying to let people read it. The future is vast and unknowable and the only thing that makes it feel doable is by cultivating community, which is impossible to do from behind a wall. This is my attempt at allowing myself to be seen. Thank you for looking.

When will you write?

Hopefully once a month but realistically whenever I have a thought worth sharing.

What will you write?

So far, it’s been whatever is occupying my mind. Thoughts on culture and current events. Thoughts on music or television or books or movies. There’s a chance you’ll even get some personal essays. Only one way to find out, though.

I’d obviously like to share content I’m proud of, and believe in, but I also would like to share things without agonizing over them first. Probably at some point I will publish a take on something and my opinion will evolve after I’ve posted it. I didn’t come out fully formed and hopefully, I’ll never stop growing and changing. This means sometimes looking back and cringing, like when I revisit my Macklemore era.

Macklemore era?

No further questions, please.
